DIY Homemade Bisquick saved my supper the other night. I had some chicken drumsticks to cook and really wanted some oven fried chicken. Almost every recipe I came across called for Bisquick. I don’t generally purchase Bisquick because I don’t need it often.
We almost gave up on making oven fried chicken when I decided to try making my own Homemade Bisquick. While browsing general ingredients, I came up with this easy recipe that uses items I already had in my kitchen!

How I make it…
I like to keep things simple. Find a bowl and mix all the dry ingredients first. 2.5 cups flour, 2 Tbsn baking powder, 1 Tbsn sugar, 1/2 tsp salt.
Next cube about 1/2 cup of cold butter. Add the butter to your dry ingredients. You can use a fork or pastry cutter to mix the butter into the dry ingredients. I prefer to work it in with my hands. It’s messy… but I like to feel how evenly distributed the butter is. Continue working the butter into the dry ingredients until you have a crumbly mixture.
Store your DIY Homemade Bisquick in a mason jar or covered container inside the refrigerator for 5-6 months. Use as you would any recipe that calls for Bisquick.
