Grape Jelly Meatballs are easy and great to have for an appetizer during football season (GO VIKINGS!). Alternatively, you can serve these sweet tangy meatballs over mashed potatoes! When I first met my husband I thought that was the weirdest combination. Now it is one of my favorite comfort foods.
I feel like Grape Jelly Meatballs over mashed potatoes is one of those secret Minnesota recipes that only native Minnesotans know about. If you think it sounds a little odd, don’t knock it til you try it. It seriously is REALLY GOOD!
There really is no way to screw up this sauce recipe. You can technically use any combination of Grape Jelly, Ketchup, or Chili Sauce. And of course you can make your own meatballs if you prefer. I usually buy the frozen meatballs to save time.

How I Make Grape Jelly Meatballs
For this sauce I used 12 ounces of Chili Sauce and 12 ounces of Ketchup. The Chili Sauce often comes in 12 ounce bottles, ketchup does not. An easy way to measure out 12 ounces of ketchup is to fill the empty Chili Sauce bottle with ketchup. Mix the Chili Sauce and Ketchup together. Add 32 ounces of Grape Jelly and mix well.
Get your slow cooker ready. Have you ever used plastic slow cooker liners (Amazon Affiliate Link)? <— Those are what I use. Best bang for your buck that I’ve seen. They really help with clean up!! I use them for almost every slow cooker recipe.
I own these slow cooker products advertised below and love them all! Great for family gatherings, potlucks, or just daily cooking at home.
Dump 44 ounces of frozen meatballs into your slow cooker. Pour your sauce over top of the meatballs. Stir meatballs until well coated with the sauce. Set slow cooker on LOW for 3 hours!
Now you are ready to enjoy these sweet, tangy, delicious meatballs. Serve as appetizers or over mashed potatoes!
