Do you love McDonald’s McRib Sandwiches that they feature for a short time every year? My husband and I sure do! However, we don’t love the price of them. It seems like every year they cost a little bit more.
I believe they cost $3.69 per sandwich at McDonalds this year. Multiply that times a family of 4 and your looking at about $15.00 JUST FOR THE SANDWICHES!! Chances are you will want drinks & french fries which will easily make it a $25.00 meal for your family. I like them, but I don’t like them THAT MUCH!
I’m sure you’ve all seen these Banquet BBQ Boneless Patties. Aren’t they basically the same thing as the McRib patty?? You can get this box of 6 patties for about $3.00.
Cooking Instructions
Cook BBQ Boneless Patties according to instructions on the back. I believe they have instructions for oven or microwave. I’ve only used the oven, so I cannot attest to the quality of microwave cooking them.
To cook these in the oven preheat to 375 degrees, cut plastic film to vent, place on cookie sheet and bake for 50 minutes.
Making Buns
I like to make my own Homemade Sandwich Buns. I am not going to repeat my recipe on this post, if you go to my Homemade Sandwich Buns post you can see how I make buns in only 35 Minutes. Alternatively, you can buy buns at the store.

Just like McDonald’s, we like to add sliced onion and pickles to our DIY McDonalds McRib Sandwich. Add some french fries on the side and your favorite drinks. TIP: The extra BBQ sauce from the frozen BBQ patties makes an excellent dipping sauce for your french fries!
I didn’t go through and calculate cost of every ingredient I used, but it is safe to say that I was able to make 4 DIY McRib Meals for the price of 1 McRib Meal from McDonald’s. I hope you can save money with these DIY McRibs too!
